30 Days of Biking Year 3 Day 9

Well, I was just going to “go round the block” to tick off the days ride. The weather is quite horrid, with a pretty keen wind and heavy showers, I’m also starting nights tonight and was up early with the kids and doing all the general household chores as the missus was at work, so round the block seemed a reasonable effort.

Then.

I had a text from Rafe, now I’m really pleased to be able to call Rafe a friend, he is genuinely a great bloke and has helped me a lot, he also knows which buttons to press to get me to “bite” So the text was something along the lines of “Hope you are going to put more effort than round the block in today” I replied with a fairly curt, “I’m going round the block” but then I had to pop up the allotment to do a couple of jobs and the old brain started ticking.

I got home and announced I was going for 10 miles. So I did.

It was horrid. Having the wind behind me at times was nice, but head on made me almost stop at a couple of points, but I pushed on through the rain and when I got home I was actually quite pleased with myself, so thanks Rafe (as usual) it was well worth it.

Big Sheeps and Little Sheeps

I think the main highlight was seeing a fellow cyclist coming the other way and he actually waved and said hello, which was great, he was also on the bike of my childhood dreams… a Raleigh Team Banana, I always loved to look of these bikes, but never owned one… still maybe one day!

Stats:

Trip Miles: 11.18 miles

Average Speed: 15.4 mph
